If you are not a legal resident, I do not believe that you can be appointed as such. If you love the man, marry him.. but, remember he may get deported and you'll have plenty more headaches. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
